# I3 Screen in the classroom

Every classroom at ISB is equipped with an i3 ELM 2 interactive screen.

Use the screen to display your MacBook, present wirelessly, use the Windows 11 OPS computer, write on the digital whiteboard, and support classroom activities or Google Meet.

## Quick reminders

- Use only approved ISB cables, adapters, pens, and accessories.
- Select the correct input before troubleshooting the MacBook connection.
- Use a cable for long videos or Google Meet when possible.
- Save whiteboard work before turning off the screen.
- Do not change administrator, network, or service settings.

# Turn the i3 screen on or off

## Turn the screen on

1. Press the screen's power button or use the remote control.
2. Wait for the display to start.
3. Select the required input or home screen.
4. If the display remains blank, see [Troubleshoot common problems](troubleshoot-common-problems).

## Turn the screen off

1. Save your work in the whiteboard or any open application.
2. Disconnect your laptop if you no longer need it connected.
3. Press the power button once.
4. Confirm the shutdown prompt if one appears.

Do not unplug the screen while it is running unless IT has instructed you to do so.

## If the screen does not respond

- Press the power button once and wait.
- Check whether the power indicator is lit.
- Try the remote control if the button is not responding.
- Contact IT if the screen still does not start.

# Connect a MacBook to the i3 screen

You can connect your MacBook to the i3 classroom screen using USB-C or HDMI.

## USB-C connection

USB-C is the preferred connection when available. It can provide picture and sound and may also support touch control.

1. Turn on the i3 screen.
2. Connect the USB-C cable to your MacBook.
3. Connect the other end to the USB-C input on the i3 screen.
4. Select the USB-C input if it does not appear automatically.
5. Choose the i3 screen as the sound output if needed.

## HDMI connection

Use HDMI with the approved MacBook adapter.

1. Turn on the i3 screen.
2. Connect the HDMI cable to the MacBook adapter.
3. Connect the other end to the HDMI input on the i3 screen.
4. Select the matching HDMI input.
5. Choose the i3 screen as the sound output if needed.

## If there is no picture

- Check that the i3 screen is turned on.
- Select the correct input.
- Disconnect and reconnect the cable.
- Check that the MacBook adapter is connected correctly.
- Try another approved cable.
- Restart the MacBook only if necessary.

## If there is no sound

- Check that the MacBook and i3 screen are not muted.
- Open the MacBook sound settings.
- Select the i3 screen as the sound output.
- Check the volume in the application you are using.

## Touch control

Touch control depends on the cable, MacBook, operating system, and local ISB configuration. If the picture works but touch does not, use the MacBook trackpad or mouse and contact IT.

## Good practice

- Use only approved ISB cables and adapters.
- Do not force connectors into the ports.
- Disconnect the cable carefully when finished.
- Report damaged cables or adapters to IT.

# Present wirelessly on an i3 screen

You can share your MacBook screen wirelessly to an i3 ELM 2 classroom screen using **i3 AllSync** or Apple’s built-in **Screen Mirroring**.

## Before you start

- Turn on the i3 screen.
- Connect your MacBook to the same ISB network as the classroom screen.
- Make sure the screen is showing the AllSync presentation screen.
- Do not share confidential information with the wrong classroom display.

## Method 1: Use Mac Screen Mirroring

1. On the i3 screen, open the **Present** or **AllSync** tile.
2. On your MacBook, open **Control Center** from the menu bar.
3. Select **Screen Mirroring**.
4. Select the classroom i3 screen.
5. Enter the four-digit PIN shown on the i3 screen, if requested.
6. Your MacBook screen should now appear on the i3 screen.

## Method 2: Use the AllSync app

1. Open the **AllSync** presentation screen on the i3 display.
2. Note the display name or PIN shown on the screen.
3. Open the AllSync app on your MacBook.
4. Select the classroom display.
5. Enter the PIN if requested.
6. Select **Start sharing** or **Play**.

If AllSync is not installed on your MacBook, use Screen Mirroring or contact ISB IT for the approved installation method.

## Stop sharing

1. Open **Control Center** on your MacBook.
2. Select **Screen Mirroring**.
3. Select **Stop Screen Mirroring**.

You can also stop sharing from the AllSync controls on the i3 screen.

## If it does not work

- Confirm that the MacBook and i3 screen are on the same ISB network.
- Confirm that the AllSync presentation screen is open.
- Check the PIN carefully.
- Turn Screen Mirroring off and on again.
- Restart the AllSync app.
- Use a USB-C or HDMI cable instead.
- Contact IT and include the classroom number and MacBook name.

## Important

Wireless presentation is best for slides, documents, and short demonstrations. For long videos or Google Meet, use a cable when possible for a more stable connection.

# Use the Windows 11 OPS module on the i3 screen

All i3 classroom screens include a built-in Windows 11 computer called an **OPS module**. Use it when you need Windows-only software or a Windows classroom workflow.

## Switch to the Windows 11 OPS module

1. Turn on the i3 screen.
2. Open the screen’s **Home**, **Input**, or **Source** menu.
3. Select **OPS**, **PC**, or **Windows**.
4. Wait for Windows 11 to start.
5. Sign in using the account provided by ISB.
6. Use the connected keyboard and mouse, or the touchscreen if enabled.

The exact input name may vary between classrooms.

## Switch back to the i3 home screen

1. Save your work in Windows.
2. Open the i3 **Home**, **Input**, or **Source** menu.
3. Select the i3 home screen or Android/i3CONNECT Studio input.

## Shut down Windows correctly

1. Select the **Start** button in Windows.
2. Select **Power**.
3. Select **Shut down**.
4. Wait until Windows has fully shut down.
5. Turn off the i3 screen if you are finished.

Do not switch off the screen while Windows is updating or shutting down.

## If the OPS module does not appear

- Check that the i3 screen is turned on.
- Open the Input or Source menu again.
- Wait a few moments for the OPS module to start.
- Check that the keyboard and mouse are connected.
- Restart the screen only if instructed by IT.
- Contact ISB IT if OPS, PC, or Windows is not listed.

## If Windows has no network connection

- Check that the i3 screen is connected to the ISB network.
- Do not change network settings unless instructed by IT.
- Contact IT and provide the classroom number.
